Jhan was looking at his plate, picking through
the berries and nuts.  There lie before him a
full day to contemplate his first private
moments with Ethan.  Would the time pass
quickly or drag eternally, after so many years
of dreaming of just such a moment, not once
believing it would ever come his way?  Now the
prospect was upon him.  He was nervous.  He
felt the anticipation in his belly, felt tingles on
his skin.  Bold indeed he had been with his
fantasies—there had been a few over the
years.  A certain athlete in college perhaps, or
a soldier about to leave home.  But in the real
world outside the solitude of his dreams, until
this moment, his nerve to take a romantic risk
had ventured no further than his mind.  He
looked at Ethan and felt his heart sailing.  His
eyes flowed over him, certain the day would
drag on for a year.
